English 中文
Do not drive too much slower than the posted speed limit. If you do, traffic can bunch up behind you. This is called "impeding traffic". Driving too slowly on a busy road can be as dangerous as driving too fast.
If you need to drive slower than the speed limit, stay in the right lane. Watch traffic around you.
If traffic gets bunched up behind you, speed up or pull off the road so the traffic can go around.
If the road has more than one lane going in your direction, try not to block lanes by driving beside other traffic. If someone stays beside you, speed up or slow down so traffic behind can get by.
You should never drive faster than what is safe and prudent for existing conditions no matter what speed limit is posted. This is known as the "Basic Speed Law".
When passing a public transit vehicle that is taking or discharging passengers, the speed limit is 10 mph.
Headlights 前灯
Whenever you drive between sunset and sunrise, or whenever the weather makes it difficult to see, you must turn on your headlights. You should also turn on your headlights when it rains.
Other drivers will be able to see you better.
Do not use your bright headlights when you are close to another car or when you are driving in fog. That can cause glare and make it hard to see.
Headlights must be visible at a distance of 500 feet.
Headlights must also be dimmed when a vehicle is approaching at a distance of at least 500 feet.
Hazard Warning Lights (4-way flashers)
Hazard warning lights are intended to warn other drivers of a hazardous condition. These signals should be used if a vehicle is performing emergency maintenance on the road shoulder or to notify vehicles of a sudden stop.
Hazard warning lights should also be used when driving a heavy truck or bus up a hill.
Backing 倒车
When you back up, look through your back window. Turn your head and body. Looking in the rear-view mirror is not enough.
Do not back up faster than a slow walk.
Signaling
You should use your turn signals whenever you turn, whenever you change lanes, and whenever you are on the side of the road and are going to pull back onto the road.
